How Manchester United should line up against Ajax in the Europa League final – Metro

Win and United will have won two pieces of silverware and Champions League qualification to show for their efforts. It’ll give supporters reason to believe that the squad have a taste for success and with a good transfer window they can challenge for the title next season.

Lose and Mourinho’s selection gambles in the Premier League would have backfired, leaving the club with just the EFL Cup as consolation after a lowly sixth place finish.

Monday night’s horrific events in Manchester have put the final in Stockholm into perspective but Mourinho’s men must ensure full focus on the prize before them to round off the season.

Mourinho’s set to stick with Sergio Romero in goal in Stockholm but there’s no doubt David De Gea should be selected.

The Argentine’s been in great form for the Red Devils during this season’s competition and it would be harsh to drop him at this stage.

However, De Gea’s the best goalkeeper in the world and the margins are too small in finals to allow sentiment.

Mourinho needs to win this final as much as the club does and he shouldn’t be taking any risks by overlooking De Gea.

United’s defence will be Mourinho’s biggest headache going into the final.
